Truckers nationwide can let their voice be heard as the FMCSA debates on ending COVID-19 regulations this October.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is seeking public comment on whether the safety and supply chain benefits of its COVID-19 national emergency declaration should be renewed on Oct. 15. Please click here to go to the FMCSA website and let them know if you believe the COVID-19 regulations should continue, or not be renewed. Comments need to be submitted by the end of the day on Sept. 21, 2022. The COVID-19 national declaration provides truckers with hours-of-service relief for commercial vehicle drivers transporting essential supplies and equipment needed to keep food on grocery store shelves and medicine available for treatment at hospitals. The FMCSA said two categories of cargo have seen their usage between October 2021 and July 2022 decrease by almost half:
Medical supplies and equipment related to the testing, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19
Supplies and equipment necessary for community safety, sanitation and prevention of community transmission of COVID-19
After visiting the FMCSA website, keep the conversation going on 'The Truckstop' Facebook group, the largest online community for truckers only.
